COVINGTON — Edward Melvin Herrick, 52, Rt. 2, Covington, died suddenly at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday at his home. He was a member of the board of directors of Olin Employes Federal Union and had been employed at Olin-Mathieson for 16 years in the power house. He was also a member of the Textile Union Workers of America. Mr. Herrick was a member of the First Church of Christ at Covington. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had resided in the Covington area for a year and had lived at Rt. 2, Williamsport for 17 years prior to that. He had moved to Williamsport from Lawrenceburg. Mr. Herrick was born July 7, 1920, at Lawrenceburg, a son of Charles and Margaret Perrin Herrick. He was married to Esther Odell McConnell Jan. 10, 1940. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Marie) Cappello of Danville, Ill., and Mrs. Jack (Donna) Wilson of Williamsport; three brothers, Gene of Aurora and Vernon and Paul of Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Mrs. Everett (Lucille) Whiteford of Aurora, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Lewis of Dillsboro and Miss Betty Herrick of Lawrenceburg, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington. The Rev. Harold Fogle will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.  --typed by Walt W
